Introducing Brittney Carter! This Chicago artist is a beacon of inspiration to upcoming female hip-hop artists! With her unique voice, impressive lyricism, smooth flow, and beat selection, she is a great musician to listen to! We first discovered Brittney on Twitter when a video of her freestyling outside in front of a gazebo went viral. We were extremely intrigued as we were instantly hooked. It's pretty safe to bet that she is influenced by the likes of J Dilla, Common, Kanye West, Mick Jenkins, Tupac, Kendrick Lamar, and more. Most of her songs are soulful with a boom-bap/lofi vibe. It all started on Soundcloud for her back in 2016 when she appeared as a feature on a song by Via Rosa called "TakeYOURfreeDOM2", and it gained 16,900 plays! She then did a remix to Chance the Rapper's "Grown Ass Kid". In her earlier songs, she reveals her dark past and struggle she dealt with. She also allows us to hear her journey of her recognizing her value and becoming a follower of God. This can all be heard on songs like "Fairly Decent 2.0", "Cycles", "Paper Crowns", and more. These songs were released in 2017 and 2018, and by 2019 Brittney released her first EP "side A: hooligan | side B: breakthrough". That same year, she released her sophomore EP "SIDE A: PRACTICE | SIDE B: SUPPLICATE". By 2020, she had gained traction and a following. She released many freestyle videos of her on her social media pages and YouTube. She was noticed by the likes of The Ghetto Flower, iLLANOiZE, Prime Fortune, Lyrical Lemonade, and more! She's only getting started. Still in 2020, she released her 3rd EP "Side A: What It's Gone Be / Side B: Everything I Need". This proved to be a busy year for the young queen as she also released her debut mixtape! This mixtape is called "As I Am" and it's phenomenal! Her talented style can be heard on every song and especially songs like "I Ain't God", "All I Want", "Cold AS US", "Prove Em", and "Can't Go Back". Brittney Carter cannot stop! Now in 2021, she released her singles "The Next 30 Years", "Head High", and "New Vi$ion". It's worth mentioning that she is not shy to the camera either! She has many music videos and they're all fun to watch as they are very creative. We have been wondering if she is joining a group. Her last 2 songs support our curiosity. Whether she does or not, we will not stop listening to her. She keeps hip-hop alive!
