Femdot

Chicago-based musicians always seem to spark interest in people around the world. The Chicago spirit is an influencing force that cannot be stopped. Key influencers include the likes of Kanye West, Common, Twista, Lupe Fiasco, Chance the Rapper, Chief Keef, and so much more! From boom-bap hip-hop, to soulful-sampling, to drill music, Chicago is very diverse and never stops producing greatness. A modern example of how the Chicago musical spirit is being kept alive is seen in an artist by the name of Femdot. Femdot's journey, from what we've seen, began in 2012. His first song he ever released is "Redline" produced by Flying Lotus. It's Femdot's introduction to the world about who he is, who he wants to be, and where he's from. A conscious lyrical rap style with a unique cadence, flow, and voice makes him stand out. Not just this but also his story-telling ability. The following year, Femdot dropped his "GetRichMusic" catalog also known as his "femdelacreme" mixtape. This period in his life truly shows the potential he was harnessing which is heard in songs like "Dark Knight", "Jahsi's [Young 99] Interlude", "Mr. Jailer", and more! A soulful hip-hop artist from Chicago was great to find during this time as the 'Chiraq' drill scene was taking over. By 2014, Fem dropped his EP "King Dilla". This tape really solidified his style and it was the first time he saw huge success from his music. This is seen in songs like "Crossroads" (with over 62,000 streams on Spotify and over 340,000 plays on SoundCloud), "Antebellum" (with over 16,000 streams on Spotify and 30,000 plays on SoundCloud), and more! The next 3 years, Femdot began to evolve his sound. He was showing how versatile he can be by rapping on hard bumping trap beats which is audible on his songs "Body Bags" and "Immortal". He then returned to his notable sound and style when he released his projects "fo(u)r", "thr(we).", and "to(u)." all in 2016 (which all have over 745,000 plays on SoundCloud combined)! Femdot is the epitome of consistency. Femdot also released his popular song "Happyoctober." which prompted over 375,000 streams on Spotify in 2017. The following year, he dropped a follow up, "Happy December". Still in 2018, Femdot dropped his sophomore version from his first mixtape. This one is called "Delacreme 2". This project saw wild success. His name was really buzzing in the city by this time. His popular songs from this tape are "Alright" (with over 66,000 streams on Spotify), "Lost" (with over 276,000 streams on Spotify), "0'something" (with over 1.1M streams on Spotify), and more! By 2019, Femdot released - probably his most famous project - "94 Camry Music". This tape illustrates Fem's whole journey as an artist and what it comes with in regard to success, tragedy, love, hate, and more. His story captivates the audience via his vocal delivery and presence, story-telling ability, and lyrical flow. This project accumulated over 13 million streams on Spotify! This was only the beginning. Shortly after, Femdot secured a show with Audiotree Live which was a pretty big deal. Within the last 2 years (2020-2022), Femdot released his "Buy One, Get One Free" tapes (vol. 1 & 2), got a billboard promotion from Apple, worked with Chinatownmarket and Converse, appeared on Beansbars, engaged in philanthropy, performed at Lyrical Lemonade's Summer Smash (close affiliate), got to give a speech for the Chicago Bears, appeared on iLLANOiZE Radio, and released his latest album, "NOT FOR SALE". Obviously, Femdot is not shy to the camera nor the public eye. He has tons of music videos! They're all creatively done too! We're extremely happy to see the growth and success that came with Femdot's career and we're even happier that he puts on for this great city, Chicago. If you have not checked out Femdot's work, please do!
